I’ve never intentionally asked my coworkers for a review of what it’s like to work with me, but one of them recently invited me to an annual hot dog eating party— so at least one liked me. I just think that’s a meaningful thing to add to my soft skills:
I started designing Tumblr themes.
Early 2000s web design, GIFs, gaming, 8-bit aesthetics, art forms that only existed because of the internet. I was (and still am) hooked on designing for that space. I have deep respect for the spaces online where design remains uninhibited.
My philosophy: functional, beautiful, classic.
The internet’s original designs worked because constraints forced clarity. I build on that foundation and let it breathe with what we can do now.
Right now I’m building + learning:
Accessibully, a Chrome extension that flags accessibility issues before code ships. Learning JavaScript and React to bridge design and front-end myself.
